Our client specialising in the logistics, warehousing and transportation industry is looking for a WMS Manager for their team in Johannesburg.

The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the setup, configuration, implementation, testing, training of staff and functioning of the warehouse management systems across all operations in line with the respective operational customer requirements to ensure and correct operational flows.  Experience in the above-mentioned points is a must. The successful candidate will also have to be vaccinated.

 

Requirements:

  • Matric not negotiable
  • Logistics/warehouse/business management diploma/degree
  • 5 years of experience in the logistics/warehouse industry with extensive WMS management and set up roles and responsibilities for at least 3 of the 5 years

Responsibilities:
Software

  • Understand and know how to make use of the various systems in the business
  • Ensure that the WMS is correctly set up, tested and commissioned within the warehouse operations to ensure that each account is run as per the procedures required by Value and the customer
  • Ensure structured management of the implementation and maintenance of the WMS processes on an ongoing basis
  • Ensure WMS set up to allow for optimal storage of stock through maximum utilisation of space (ABC)
  • Manage changes and reconfiguration of the WMS system effectively in order to ensure that normal course of business is not negatively impacted during the change
  • Gathering and understand process requirements for the purpose of process management via WMS
  • Configuring the WMS according to agreed requirements on both test and live environments
  • Maintenance of the WMS
  • Configure, manage and maintain product, location, and user profiles on the WMS
  • Engaging with the WMS vendors for system change requests and additional functionality
  • Drafting of business cases and cost/benefit analysis of WMS modifications and enhancements
  • Investigating new system functional requirements and driving the design, approval and development process
  • Ownership of WMS work stream in warehouse take ons
  • Contributing to IT BRS workshops, and documenting WMS related requirements
  • Documenting of BRS documents pertaining to WMS set up including that of user groups and user access

 

Master Data

  • Collecting and management of master data in the required format
  • master data for set up onto the WMS in line with product storage requirements

  • Testing
  • Carry out system testing prior to any process change go live
  • Ensure that all test cases relevant and required is carried out, documented with results then implemented in a controlled manner
  • Drawing up of user acceptance testing test cases and preparing the system for UAT
  • Carrying out UAT as required
  • Training
  • Training system users on the system processes as well as the use of the system
  • Training staff on the system at take on of new operations
  • Refresher training to all users to ensure that they are equipped with sufficient knowledge to ensure efficient processes
  • Reporting
  • Develop effective, automated reports in the WMS, manage and maintain them
  • Ensure that all functionality and reports available via the WMS is fully utilised
  • Provide reports on system changes, functionality and progress to senior management on an ongoing basis
  • Use the WMS to its full capability to generate useful, effective reports that link with customer KPI’s, Warehouse KPI’s, productivity, stock movement, utilisation etc

  • Continuously look for ways to better improve the WMS and introduce new technologies
