Transport Manager

CAPE TOWN

R50 000 – R60 000 (Depending on experience)

Our client, a world-renowned company within the Road Freight industry invites suitably qualified candidates to apply for the Transport Manager position based at the Cape Town branch. The role is responsible for managing all transport operations and administration as well as assist to effectively improve and optimise the transport network and capability ensuring that all service levels and financial targets are achieved and improved.

 

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

Warehouse

  • Manage all administrative functions around the transport operation
  • Prepare reports with special attention to accuracy
  • Develop, define, maintain and implement transport processes and validate them with operational team
  • Plan, co-ordinate and monitor delivery of goods or products
  • Ensure that frequency of delivery of goods and services are as per customer requirements
  • Ensure that client penalties for non-conformance to service level agreements are not incurred
  • Ensure safe working environment and compliance to legislation
  • Active involvement in the Occupational Health and Safety on site in order to avoid non- conformances
  • Ensure losses are prevented and security is not compromised

Delivery Management

  • Route Planning
  • Vehicle Allocation and Utilization
  • SLA / Service level management
  • Vehicle departure time management
  • Multiple Trip management
  • Late Delivery management
  • UWL report management
  • Cage Exception report management
  • Delivery due date management
  • Launch delivery management
  • PDA delivery exception management
  • All SOP relating to Drivers

Driver De-briefing

  • Outstanding POD Management
  • POD Quality Management
  • IBT processing and dispatch management
  • All SOP relating to driver de-briefing and pod accepting
  • Returns management
  • Loaded not assigned management / Assigned not loaded management
  • De-briefer license management
  • Endorse POD management

 

Reporting

  • Measuring and reporting on the effectiveness of the department activities.
  • Ensure that all clock-in time reports are timeously submitted to HR for payroll processing.
  • Review staff performance via productivity reports

 

People Management

  • Developing and maintaining departmental work instructions for all tasks
  • Interpreting company policies to workers and enforcing safety regulations
  • Assess and develop the skills & competencies in team members

 

Minimum Requirements:

  • Grade 12 Senior Certificate (Matric)
  • Relevant tertiary qualification will be highly advantageous e.g. BCom Logistics / National Diploma
  • Experience in a similar role in the same industry is essential

Skills Requirements:

  • Capability to plan, organise, control and perform under pressure

  • Knowledge of warehouse operations and managing staff
  • Working knowledge of MS Office suite and a high level of computer literacy
  • Ability to read instructions, and procedure manuals
  • Ability to make calculations such as discounts, freight estimates, dimensional weight, invoices, and percentages
  • Knowledge of general business computer software and aptitude to learn new software applications
  • Strong leadership abilities
  • Must have a diverse personality and can communicate on all levels
